Excel Invoice Template
Fill in the invoice below, then choose Excel under “Or download as” to get an .xlsx spreadsheet. The line amounts and the subtotal are live formulas, so you can change a quantity or a rate in Excel.
Download your invoice as an Excel file
- Fill in the invoice: your details, the client's, the lines, tax and terms.
- Under the Download PDF button, choose Excel.
- Open the .xlsx in Excel. Each line amount is quantity times rate, and the subtotal is the sum of the lines.
- Tax, discount, shipping and the total are the figures from the tool. If you change a line, update those.
The formulas in the file
The file uses these, so you can follow or extend them:
- Line amount: =ROUND(quantity x rate, 2)
- Subtotal: =SUM of the line amounts
- Tax and total: the figures from the tool, since tax rules differ by place
Build your own sheet
Prefer to start from nothing? Menu names differ between the desktop, web and Mac versions of Excel, but the idea is the same: File, New, search for invoice, then Description, Quantity, Rate and Amount columns with an Amount formula and a SUM. Excel prints, but you set the print area and page size yourself.
