Free Quote Generator

A quote tells a customer what the work will cost before it starts. Fill it in, download the PDF and send it. Nothing is sent to us.

How to make one

  1. Add your details and the customer's.
  2. List the work with quantity and price for each line.
  3. Add tax or a discount if they apply.
  4. Put in the terms, including how long the price is valid, and download the PDF.

When to use one

Send a quote before work starts, when you are prepared to be held to the price. If the price might change, send an estimate instead.

Not sure which you need? Invoice, receipt, quote and estimate: the difference.

What to include

  • Your details and the customer's
  • A description of the work and what is not included
  • The price for each part and the total
  • How long the quote is valid
  • Your payment terms

Questions

Is a quote legally binding?
That depends on the wording and on where you are. A quote you issue is usually something the customer can rely on, so only quote what you will honour.
How long should a quote be valid?
Long enough for the customer to decide, and short enough that rising costs do not hurt you. Many people use 14 or 30 days; write the date on it.
