Roofing Invoice Template
Roofing jobs are large, weather-dependent and often paid in stages. A good invoice shows the scope that was quoted, any changes found once the old roof was open, and what has already been paid.
Example line items for roofing
These are examples of how to word lines, not prices. Use your own rates.
Tear-off and disposal
Show it apart from the new roof.
Roofing materials
Name the product, for example the type of tile or shingle, and the area covered.
Labour
A fixed price or hours and rate, matching your quote.
Repairs to decking found during the job
Show these as extras, with a note that they were outside the original quote.
Gutters, flashing and vents
List them so the customer sees the full scope.
What to put on a roofing invoice
- The address of the roof
- The quote or contract reference
- The scope of work and the materials used
- Deposits and stage payments already received
- Your workmanship warranty, if any
For the basics every invoice needs, see what to put on an invoice.
Payment terms
A deposit on booking, a payment when materials arrive and a balance on completion is a common pattern. Put what has been paid in Amount paid so the balance is always right.
Type Net 30 (or Net 7, Net 15) in the Payment terms box and the due date fills in. Payment terms explained.
Questions
- How do I invoice extra work found mid-job?
- Add it as a separate line with a short note, and ideally get the customer's agreement in writing before doing it. The invoice then matches what was agreed.
- Where does the deposit go?
- Enter it in Amount paid. The invoice then shows the full job total and the balance still due.
