Quote Template

A quote tells a customer what the work will cost before it starts. Fill it in below and download the PDF.

What a quote should say

  • Who it is from and who it is for
  • A description of the work, and what is not included
  • The price for each part and the total
  • How long the price is valid
  • Your payment terms and what happens next if they accept

Quote, estimate or invoice?

In most trades a quote is a fixed price and an estimate is a best guess, though some people use the words interchangeably, so say which you mean on the page. An invoice asks for payment. See quote vs invoice and estimate vs quote.

Questions

Is a quote binding?
That depends on the wording and the place. A quote you issue is usually something the customer can rely on, so quote only what you will honour.
How long should a quote be valid?
Long enough to decide, short enough that costs do not rise on you. Write the end date on it.
