What a plumbing quote covers
- The job: what is wrong, and what you will do
- Labor, with hours or a fixed price
- Parts and materials, listed
- Call-out or travel, if you charge it
- What is not included, such as making good walls, and how long the price holds
Say what you cannot see
A leak behind a wall can turn out bigger. Say that the price is for the work described and that you will tell the customer before doing more.
Questions
- Should I quote a fixed price or by the hour?
- A fixed price suits a known job. For unknown ones, give an hourly rate and an estimate; see estimate vs quote.
- Can I charge for giving a quote?
- Some do, especially for a site visit. Say so before you go.
