What to put on a photography quote
- The shoot: date, location and hours of coverage
- How many edited images, and when they will be delivered
- Usage rights: personal, commercial and for how long
- Travel, assistants, prints and album extras as separate lines
- The deposit that secures the date, and the balance due
Why usage rights matter
A client who thinks they bought every use of every image may be surprised. Say in the quote what they can do with the photos, and what costs extra.
Questions
- Should I take a deposit?
- Many photographers do, to hold the date. Put the amount and what happens if the client cancels in the quote.
- Is a photoshoot quote the same as an invoice?
- No. The quote comes first. After the shoot you send an invoice; see quote vs invoice.
