Google Docs Invoice Template
Fill in the invoice below and download it as a Word file (.docx). Google Docs opens .docx files, so you can edit it there. The PDF is there too.
Use the invoice in Google Docs
Menu names differ a little between accounts:
- Fill in the invoice and choose Word under the Download PDF button.
- Upload the .docx file to Google Drive.
- Open it with Google Docs. Check the layout, since a conversion can change small details.
- Keep it as your master. For each new invoice choose File, Make a copy, and change the number and date.
- To send it, use File, Download, PDF document.
What a Google Doc does not do
The tables in Docs do not calculate. If you change a quantity you must change the total yourself, and the invoice number does not go up on its own. If you want formulas, download the Excel file and use Google Sheets. The tool above does the sums and keeps the layout fixed.
Questions
- Does this page give me a Google Docs file?
- It gives you a Word (.docx) file, which Google Docs can open, and a PDF. There is no direct link into Google Docs.
- Is a Google Docs invoice acceptable to clients?
- Send it as a PDF and it is. The client sees a normal invoice; how you made it does not matter.
