Google Sheets Invoice Template

Fill in the invoice below and download it as an Excel file (.xlsx). Google Sheets opens .xlsx files, with the line formulas, so you can keep your invoices there.

Use the invoice in Google Sheets

Menu names differ a little between accounts:

  1. Fill in the invoice and choose Excel under the Download PDF button.
  2. Upload the .xlsx to Google Drive.
  3. Open it with Google Sheets. The line amounts and subtotal stay as formulas.
  4. Use File, Download, PDF to send it.

Track what is paid

Add a second tab with one row per invoice: number, client, date, amount and a status. A drop-down with Paid and Unpaid (from the Insert menu) makes the status quick to set, and a total at the top shows what you are owed. Because a Sheet can be shared, a partner or bookkeeper can see it too.

Questions

Is there a Google Sheets download on this page?
It gives you an Excel (.xlsx) file, which Google Sheets can open, and a PDF. There is no direct link into Sheets.
Can several people use one invoice sheet?
Yes, Sheets lets people share one file. Agree who numbers the invoices, so two people do not use the same number.
