Auto Repair Receipt Template
A repair receipt shows what was done to a vehicle and what was paid. Fill it in below and give the customer a copy.
What goes on an auto repair receipt
- Customer's name and the vehicle: make, model, year and plate
- The date and the odometer reading
- Each job and the parts used, priced separately from labor
- Tax, shown on its own line
- The total, the method of payment and any warranty on the work
Why itemize parts and labor
A customer who sees parts and labor separately can see what the charge is made of, and an insurer or a later mechanic can read the history. See what an itemized invoice is.
Questions
- Is a repair receipt the same as an invoice?
- An invoice asks for payment before it is made. A receipt says it has been. Many shops send one invoice and mark it paid.
- Should I list the parts' brand and number?
- It helps, especially for warranty claims.
